CPR : Steps to Follow

by Health Safety on September 25, 2008

If you believe someone is having a cardiac arrest do not panic.
Follow the 3 simple steps of CPR and help save a life.

CALL
Call 911. This is a toll free call from any pay phone.

BLOW
Tilt the head back cover the persons mouth with yours and blow until you see the chest rise. Give 2 breaths.

PUMP
Push down on the chest 1 to 2 inches 30 times right between the nipples fast and hard.

Continue with 2 breaths and 30 pumps until help arrives

This 3 step process effective in most situations of cardiac arrest, omits the steps of listening for breathing and checking for a pulse.
